Trans needs "warm up" time

In a friend's 1986 300D, 124 with a 722.3. The transmission will not engage when cold. After it idles long enough to warm up it works but the shifts seem to be not as crisp as in my 1987 300D. Another Benz owner said this could be something called a B2 piston?

Anyone care to share a pro's opinion?

Hi, your friend is right, when your car will NOT move it all on the beginning, you can have a B2 piston leak, when the car moves but not upshift to second gear you my have a leak at B1 or a adjustment problem. we know the Diesels with the shifting problems. Also Check the adjustment and the vacuum modulator on the transmission, also filter and fluid.
