1994 bmw 530i stalls in drive or reverse

sorry for posting annon, i couldnt find anywhere to join. My problem is that when i shift into drive, reverse or any individual gear, the engine stalls. in my troubleshooting path i have scanned the car for trouble codes and watched the live feed from the transmission act as normal. tested the shift range switch, shift interlock solenoid, shift program switch, tcu, dme, made sure no wires were shorted or obstructed in the whole system, tested all solenoids for proper ohms readings (inside gearbox) and tested all wiring inside the gearbox. the reason i am convinced this is an electrical problem is because when i hooked up my scanner during the live feed, the transmission acted normal except that it could not pick up which gear it was in. it just thought it was in park (?p). however i did get proper solenoid actuation etc. The torque converter lockup solenoid tested out ok however i am convinced it is not disengaging because of some miscommunication with the tcu or speed sensors (engages at 55 mph, disengages anywhere under that speed) however everything tests out ok. the only thing i have not done is dropped the tranny and checked the tc out of the car. i beleive if i can fix the fact that the scanner ownt pick up what gear tis in it will solve the problem. does anyone have any ideas on what else i can do? maybe im missing something. thanks

Hi,
when I understand your notes correct,-Your engine stalls when you shifting to "N" or "R"
This means a converter lock up clutch engaged all the time
Also, when I understand you  correct with this failure occurred you have NO code reading ?
What means you have a mechanical failure what trickers NO codes, "lock-up clutch does not open" The lock-up valve is sticking in your valebody!
Free the valve and it should do the trick.
All other stuff, like short to earth, or solenoid 6 has a mechanical defect....... should tricker a code
I hope this help
