I recently purchased a 2001 X5 as is.  The vehicle is in good condition and drives great when moving forward.  It idles back just fine once in reverse gear but once you press the gas the engine just refs and does not move back well especially if it has to go back on a slight hill.  Any advice on this please.......BMW dealership is telling me I need a new $6,200 transmission.  Thanks for your assistance.
