Mercedes E320 slight vibration when in drive
Permalink

My auto has 66,000 miles on it.  It is a 2002 E 320.  While driving and parked at a light with the trans in drive there is a vibration that is noticeable transferred thru the stearing wheel and the gas pedal.  When in park or neutral it is very solid with no vibration.  Would a bearing or bushing in the trans cause the vibration.  It shifts flawlessly while driving and other than the vibration works fine.  Is the E 320 prone to vibration.  My Chrysler Sebring has less vibration while standing or driving.  Should I be concerned?  Is this symptom going to lead to something more serious?  Help!  awinters49@yahoo.com.

Hi

I had exactly the same problem on my '99 E240. It turned out to be the engine mountings.

I concur with Heinrich's response. I have the same problem and it was diagnosed as deteriorated engine mounts. (2001 E320)

Mine was also diagnosed as engine mounts.  So, had those replaced.  No improvement.  Then, it must be the transmission mount.  Had that replaced.  Maybe the new engine mounts were faulty, so they replaced those.  Still no improvement, and the car is vibrating more now than ever.   Standing still at idle, but gear must be engaged.  Put it in neutral, and the vibration stops.  Any ideas?
