'95 MERCEDES 722.5 TRANS BINDS IN REVERSE
Permalink

I have just rebuilt a 722.5 transmission. When I test drove the vehicle I noticed that all forward gears were working properly. The problem occurs when I manually shift the transmission into reverse gear as it seems to "bind". What I mean by that is not only does it go into reverse, but also a forward gear at the same time. I have inspected the transmission numerous times, especially the valve body and everything seems to be in proper order according to the ATSG tech manual and All-Data. I'm pretty sure that the problem is in the valve body, but I'm having the hardest time trying to find it. I thank you for your input.

Hello,
the problem with the transmission is NOT in the valve body, it is in the rear section of the housing, there are bleeding valves in the rear wall and you  may lost one when you cleaned the housing.

Also, when the piston in the rear housing leaks, the unit bind up two gears apply ??

What ever for problem you have, you find it when you pressure test all clutch circuits!!
