Hi, the car have a GM 5L4oE transmission and the reverse problem is a known problem what many BMW owners have to deal with.
The problem is sometimes in the valvebody, but in the most cases in the transmission it self. The molded pistons have problems or the pleading valve on the reverse clutch is stuck. Only a complete rebuilt will help here. herb
