We have a 2003 BMW 745i that downshifts from 2nd to 1st with a clunk, a change of oil pan and fluid did not help. The pan and oil was clean, just light residue on the magnets. Replaced the trans fluid anyway. Car has 130K miles.
Its also starting to make a light whine when sitting in gear at idle, goes away when you move away from rest.
