Considering going to aamco and having my good tranny with 265,000 miles flushed vs just draining fluid and cleaning filtran. Anyone have experience flushing vs draining? Is there risk of damaging?

Hi All, just acquired a 7/2000 735i with 5 speed Steptronic trans, 170,000 km on the clock. It seems to have trouble staying in 5th gear at cruising speed, sometimes for no apparent reason throws itself back to 3rd when in auto, but even pushing the shift lever to M and forcing it to shift up, it won't stay...
