What would cause the transmission not to shift out of first gear when driving? Also is it more fesible to fix it or get a rebuilt one?

Hi, my question is I have a 1983 300SD Turbo Diesel, it shifts well 2 times when it reach 45 Miles shifts for the last time, but after that there's no more shifting, however the engine sound that is under too much effort, at 60 Miles per hour it reaches 3000 RPM, I'm afraid to pass the 70 Miles per hour becaus...

Having the same problem of hard shifting with the 300SD except notice a bang or big clunk coming from the rear differential when going from 2nd gear to 1st gear. Is this the result of a worn part or entire driveline worn?

what does it mean when the tranny wont engage propelly in reverse? I own a 1992 300 se 4 door, it s an automatic it sounds like it wants to go but just slips, slow to engage

I have a 1994 S420 first problem reverse was going bad it would work great sometimes and then be underpower sometimes unable to reverse on steep hills.there was also a leak.now the tranny seems to be locked in mid grear when you start the car up it just goes right away it seems it does not what gear to go to?...
