i currently bought a 99 c280 with a 722.6 tranny. first and second gear both have a loud knocking this stops once in third or fourth gear. also the knocking persists when in park or neutral. any ideas what it could be?

Hello, I am replacing the transmission in a 91 350SD. My trans has the 722361 number, which is the correct model . The replacement transmission I bought, does not have the number on the pan rail? looks almost like it was ground off there. it does have the part number 126 270 49 00, with number 8322760...
